We want to offer you an opportunity to meet a professional in a career field that interests you by participating in a Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) event. In San Diego, DMD is a pilot project consisting of a series of events starting Wednesday, October 15th 2008 through May 2009.

Each event is designed to bring students and job seekers with disabilities into the workplace where they can learn about various career opportunities. Through Disability Mentoring Day, students and job seekers learn from career professionals what it means to work in that field or occupation- observe a typical workday; identify necessary skills; and learn about possible internships or employment prospects. While DMD is a one-day event, mentors and mentees are encouraged to stay in touch after the event. Mentoring is invaluable and beneficial for both the mentor and student, advancing career development and personal growth.
